I would be remiss to write about The Oregon Garden<\/a> and not include\u00a0photos from\u00a0the Conifer Garden<\/a>, after-all many people go there just to see the conifer collection. I’d like to think my ability to admire the conifers is an indication of my maturing as a gardener, rather than dismissing them all as boring (I grew up surrounded by a forest of Ponderosa Pine<\/a>, and still haven’t completely recovered) I can finally appreciate their unique beauty.<\/p>\n

Truth be told — I’d be thrilled to have room for a\u00a0Cunninghamia lanceolata ‘Glauca’<\/a>\u00a0in my garden.

It’s a good one.

I didn’t see a label for this guy, but it looks to be a variegated\u00a0Sciadopitys verticillata<\/a>\u00a0(Japanese Umbrella Pine).

Boring? Look at that color, these are anything but boring! I don’t have ID on the green guy in the middle but on the right is\u00a0Pinus contorta ‘Chief Joseph’<\/a>\u00a0(I believe).

My first conifer crush was on a\u00a0Blue Atlas Cedar<\/a>, this is a nice weeping variety — perhaps\u00a0Cedrus atlantica ‘Glauca Pendula’<\/a>.

I recently bought my fist Cyclamen<\/a>, for me it’s all about the foliage.

Beware the wire vine! (Muehlenbeckia axillaris<\/a>) it’s a great plant but can swallow up entire villages if not controlled.

Aren’t these just bizarre? The flowers of Petasites giganteus<\/a>.

A Manzanita grown in a large container is a great way to highlight the beautiful bark. This one is\u00a0Arctostaphylos x ‘Sunset’<\/a>.

Finally I’ll wrap up the series with this beauty — a Paperbark Cherry, Prunus Serrula<\/a>.
