For instance, I decided when I bought this plant\u00a0that is was an Ernygium. <a title=\"Megan blog post on ushering out summer\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/blog\/plants\/ushering-out-summer-with-a-mesmerizing-mystery-grass\/#more-7514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Megan<\/a> said, &#8220;this is a fabulus Acanthus. You should buy it.&#8221; Which, of course, I did with all due haste. Because my kids don&#8217;t ever steer me wrong. They know stuff, Megan and Elliot, the little upstarts. So, the label clearly stated <a title=\"Acanthus sennii\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/6336\/acanthus-sennii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acanthus sennii<\/a>, and I read &#8220;Acanthus.&#8221; But\u00a0even then, my first thought was &#8220;<a title=\"Eryngium index on plant lust\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/genus\/eryngium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eryngium<\/a>.&#8221; Now every time see it in the yard, same thing: Eryngium. Does anyone else do this, conflate plant names? It strikes me as\u00a0a bit nutty. And I&#8217;m the one doing it. (Wonder if this inclination is\u00a0confounded by\u00a0my pesky 2-year-and-counting concussion? I always recognize this guy. Look at those\u00a0sinewy tentacles. So that&#8217;s not really my fault. This Grevillea victoriea &#8216;Murray Valley Queen&#8217; is quite the performer. It blooms in\u00a0late summer\u00a0and keeps going through fall, winter, and into the next spring. How many plants can do that? Is that a common thing with Grevilleas, does anyone know? Keeping these plants straight involves reminding myself that they&#8217;re call Bottlebrush for a reason. But then I have to conjure up the bloom to really sort it out.
