I share your grumblings. So\u00a0I thought I&#8217;d go on patrol for things that aren&#8217;t entirely\u00a0terrible.<\/p>\n<p>Have you noticed how a tight shot shows what\u00a0you might otherwise have missed? I wholeheartedly advise against looking at the big picture. Especially this time of year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This combination makes me happy, <a title=\"Banana Canna\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/3931\/canna-musifolia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canna musafolia<\/a>, <a title=\"Sparkling Burgundy Pineapple Lily\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/8661\/eucomis-comosa-sparkling-burgundy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eucomis &#8216;Sparkling Burgundy&#8217;<\/a>, and <a title=\"Fen's Ruby Cypress Spurge\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/24901\/euphorbia-cyparissias-fens-ruby\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euphorbia &#8216;Fen&#8217;s Ruby&#8217;<\/a>.\u00a0Pay no attention to the surrounding Blackberries and Japanese Knotweed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6779\" aria-describedby=\"figcaption_attachment_6779\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/01150304\/IMG_1794.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" itemprop=\"contentURL\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6779\" src=\"https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/01150304\/IMG_1794.jpg\" alt=\"Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' with Euphorbia 'Fen's Ruby' at its feet.\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/01150304\/IMG_1794.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/01150304\/IMG_1794-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_6779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\" itemprop=\"description\">Eucomis &#8216;Sparkling Burgundy&#8217; with Euphorbia &#8216;Fen&#8217;s Ruby&#8217; at its feet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The bloom on Eucomis comosa &#8216;Sparkling Burgundy&#8217; seems miraculous. Also know as Pineapple Lily, and it&#8217;s easy to\u00a0see why.<\/p>\n<p>Euphorbia &#8216;Fen&#8217;s Ruby&#8217; gets a little full of itself, but so billowy and healthy, easy to put up with. And if it really gets to be too much, just give it a yank. But don&#8217;t kid yourself; they&#8217;re better with water&#8211;especially this year.
