Pardon our confetti – we have been celebrating. You see, it\u2019s been four years since we started dreaming up the idea for plant lust.<\/p>\n

We wanted, for both selfish and generous reasons, to hunt for our plant wish list from all the fantastic independent nurseries we could find – and then some. We wanted to know what our plants would grow to look like. And we wanted to be able to search for whatever weird plant obsession had currently possessed\u00a0our thoughts. The velvety<\/a>, the odd, or just plain smelly<\/a>. I can\u2019t explain it, I just find them fascinating.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a fun but exhausting four\u00a0years. Building the site, starting out with our first guinea pig nursery, Gossler Farms<\/a> who were up for our experiment. Researching and cataloging 24,000 plants. Adding catalogs of 55 more independent nurseries. Collecting 45,000 photos from all those lovely photographers who share our plant photography OCD, and were kind enough to share. There’s\u00a0plenty more to do, and we have no plans to slow down.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t believe how much we\u2019ve learned in the last few years, how many plants we\u2019ve stumbled upon, and how many new nurseries we’ve\u00a0met. It\u2019s been so much fun. And now, beginning our fifth year, we\u2019re kicking off the blog so we can share our favorite finds\u00a0with fellow plant geeks.<\/p>\n

There are three of us, thank goodness, because I could not have done any of this without my partners. If I can brag a bit, I think we have the perfect team.<\/p>\n

Many people already know Loree of Danger Garden<\/a> fame, but if you haven\u2019t checked out her latest inspiring tour from her garden<\/a>, you are in for a treat.<\/p>\n

Our other partner, Patricia (full disclosure, also my mom) has done the heavy lifting on our plant research over the years. While Patricia claims to be winging it in the garden, she recently moved her previous gorgeous garden and is putting down roots in a new one. Even in early stages of the new garden, it appears her design talents are not a fluke.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had my nose to the grindstone since we started plant lust, but some may remember my previous blog, nest maker from back in the day. My garden has taken a hit this year from various workers, puppies, and neighbors, but its opened up the opportunity to do some long overdue hardscaping and rethinking, so it\u2019ll be an exciting year.<\/p>\n
