What gardener doesn\u2019t love flowers?<\/p>\n<p>Well me, actually. At least on the plants I adore for their foliage. I\u2019ve been known to cut the flowers off my hostas and some cannas. Especially when they&#8217;re combined with their smaller (hardier) cousin,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/6962\/echium-russicum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Echium russicum<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4269\" src=\"https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/01154605\/Echium-wildpretii-1.jpg\" alt=\"Echium wildpretii 1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"791\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d17vsf20mehj1i.cloudfront.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/01154605\/Echium-wildpretii-1.jpg 1024w, \/><\/p>\n<p>While I eagerly anticipate the annual blooms on my common <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/5519\/yucca-filamentosa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yucca filamentosa<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/695\/yucca-filamentosa-color-guard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Color Guard\u2019<\/a> shown here\u2026<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4282\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I dread the day any of my <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/4087\/yucca-rostrata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yucca rostrata<\/a> decide to bloom. I\u2019ve read that blooming sets them back and slows their growth, zapping their vigor. However I think it might also result in branching. Which could be cool. Here\u2019s one that\u2019s branched into three growing tips and its neighbor.
