I don’t know how one tells a story about Huntington Gardens<\/a>. I’m overwhelmed every time I try to sort\u00a0photos into some logical order. I could make a career of studying the plants here–and which are likely to grow together naturally.\u00a0Visiting this garden raised so many questions.<\/p>\n

Thusly, I’ll give you pictures. For now, they can tell their own dang story.<\/p>\n

Sea of Hesperaloe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

To think how excited I am when I get a single bloom stalk on Hesperaloe. They do okay-ish in Portland, but nothing close to this\u00a0extravagance.<\/p>\n

The hummingbirds love it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I didn’t expect it look lush, but\u00a0it did. Is this a time of year thing, or is it like this year round?<\/p>\n

Aeonium ‘Jack Catlin’<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A sea of Aeonium. I never believe these can get by on little to no water, but “they” say it’s\u00a0true. What say ye?<\/p>\n

So many Aeoniums. I’d love to see this in my garden.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Here’s a fancy vista.<\/p>\n

It looks lush.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Something fantastic every which way.<\/p>\n

These plants don’t naturally occur together, or do they? They look terrific snuggled up together.<\/p>\n

Agave attenuata, a dime a dozen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Is it wrong that\u00a0Agave attenuata makes me want to take a bite?<\/p>\n

Agave americana?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I think this is A. american. Funny how some plants weren’t marked. Or else, I was so overwhelmed that I just missed it. I felt like a cartoon character with thought bubbles exploding around my head: Wow! Zam! Kapow!@#<\/p>\n

Jubaea chilensis aka Chilean Wine Palm.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Why yes, I’ll have a Chilean wine, though this did\u00a0feel a little\u00a0Wookie-ish on Endor.<\/p>\n

Tree Aloe? Didn’t get the name, because some other fantastic sight turned my head.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Tree Aloe with sumptuous\u00a0Agaves strewn about\u00a0its ankles.<\/p>\n

And this crazy fabulous number.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This tree had blooms that looked like Euphorbia. Do they come this big?<\/p>\n

I like some photos\u00a0with people. Megan<\/a> in the flowing red kimono. And a nice unidentified couple in coordinating white and red. Then, Bill<\/a> and Justin<\/a> crossing paths.<\/p>\n

More Aeonium, the nice black variety, Aeonium ‘Zwartkop’. I’ve\u00a0killed this one.<\/p>\n

Beautiful blue sky and sun. Another Tree Aloe. It was in the “staff only” section, which made me want to go right into there.<\/p>\n

We saw a lot of little lizards scurrying about, but no snakes. At least not in this garden. Of course, that doesn’t mean they weren’t there, right?<\/p>\n

I have many more photos to sort through and research, so I’ll leave it here for now. I would love to hear from people who know about these plants. I suspect some of them wouldn’t co-mingle on their own, but maybe they do. What do I know from\u00a0warm zones.<\/p>\n
