Butter yellow and apricot blossoms are held in sprays on 18-24" stems above bronze tinted foliage. In colder climates, lift the corms at the end of the summer as they multiply quite readily and store in a cool dry spot. In areas without reliable snow cover, a good thick layer of a protective winter mulch will help prevent the soil from freezing too deep to harm the corms.

Handsome bronze leaves that contrast wonderfully with golden yellow (tinted slligtly orange) blossoms makes this one of the best Crocosmia for gardens. Spreads to form patches to 2' wide. Deciduous leaves to 2' tall, July through August flower spikes to 30" (when happy). Rich soil that is well drained with regular water during the summer. Warm flower color goes well with many Dahlias and late blooming Salvias.

We have long wanted to offer this special crocosmia, but its multiplication rate is far slower than the overly vigorous and consequently better-known cultivars. Crocosmia 'Solfaterre' boasts chocolate brown, iris-like foliage which is topped in early summer with clusters of apricot-yellow flowers. Its unique color combination makes it a real treat to design within a mixed border. Crocosmia 'Solfaterre' has been awarded the prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) from the Royal Horticultural Society.
