Descriptions of Agastache 'Blue Fortune'
When my friend Gert Fortgens of Arboretum Trompenburg in Holland told me about his cross of the US native Agastache foeniculum with the Korean Agastache rugosa, the offspring sounded too good to be true. However, after trialing Agastache 'Blue Fortune' in our dry garden, I consider it one of the finest new perennials in years! In the spring, the strong new stalks shoot upward to 3' tall, clothed with fuzzy, licorice-scented leaves. From early spring through summer, the stems are topped with hundreds of large bottlebrush, blue-lavender flowers that attract a stunning array of pollinators! Agastache 'Blue Fortune' needs an open, well-drained site for best performance.
A hybrid selection of Anise Hyssop with a compact 2-3' habit and a profusion of long-lasting blue flower spikes that appear from June to September. For sun and average to dry soils.
Newer hybrid Hyssop that just blooms it's head off. This loves a sunny hot spot in well drained soil with low fertility. Sound like Port Townsend? This makes a bushy plant with many vivid flower candles for the entire summer. Scented foliage is pest resistant to boot.
