Descriptions of Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium'
From Japan, the 'Fernleaf Maple' has some of the most beautiful fall color each year. Plant grows artistically to 15-20'. Leaves are deeply cut almost to the petiole. Medium green leaves turn beautiful yellow, orange, and red in fall.
A large shrub or small tree, the leaves of this elegant maple are deeply lobed and cut ; "turn a rich ruby-crimson in autumn"(Hillier). S-PSh/Med
Spring & summer green leaves turn scarlet with red- orange tones fall, sturdy upright grower, Zones 6-8.
When mature, the tree is fairly open branched and drooping, sort of like a 20' umbrella; like other japonicums, the fall color is spectacular
