One of the most beautiful selections of this popular plant form, a bi-generic cross between fatsia and hedera creating a vining shrub that is trouble free and useful as a low climber to 5 ft, a container plant, or ground cover. This cultivar, initially from Japan and shared with us by plantsman Ted Stephens, has 5-6", evergreen leaves of deep green with clearly defined, creamy white margins. Though it has been successful in exceedingly dark places, happiest in light shade with supplemental summer water where dry. Should be frost hardy into the single digits, lower USDA zone 7.

One of the BEST foliage plants for shade, this evergreen beauty shows off with beautiful glossy leaves edged nicely with cream! Best described as a ‘sprawling upright’, it can be left to grow along the ground or staked to be an upright. Multi stemmed column 5-6’ tall and 4’ wide. A nice specimen in most decent soils with some summer water; part sun to full shade. Deer ignore it. Looks great even in winter!

This superb form of the man-made bigeneric hybrid (fatsia x hedera) was selected in Japan and brought to the US by plantsman Ted Stephens, who named it after the town which contains many famous Japanese nurseries. The thick, sweet gum-shaped leaves of rich green are surrounded by a wide creamy white border and held along the semi-upright free-form (nursery lingo for not straight) growing stems. This is a fairly slow growing, but exquisitely beautiful selection.
