Rare, sweet, neat evergreen fern from the JC Raulston Collection...a cute 6” tall and slowly expanding on rhizomes, creeping over the soil surface forming a luxurious dense carpet of leaves but never overwhelming its neighbors. More tolerant of heat and dry than most ferns, part sun to light shade, enjoys moisture. Fronds with benefits!

There are few introductions that excite us as much as this new introduction of Polypodium vulgare. I had tried for years to grow the commonly sold European form with no luck and had given up until I found this growing near the village of Nari on the Korean island of Uulong. From spores, we now have a stunning 6" tall x 18" wide evergreen patch in 7 years. The medium green leaves, which look as good in January as they do in June, form a thick patch above the slowly-spreading rhizomes. This is a fantastic deer-resistant fern that needs to be grown in all woodland gardens.
