UCBG. Terrestrial bromeliad from southern Chile and adjacent Argentina, this clone from the University of California Botanical Garden. Rosettes, to 18”, flowering in the third year or so, the sky-blue blossoms surrounded by burgundy leaves! Cool conditions though drought tolerant in some shade. Frost hardy to 10 to 15 °F, USDA zone 8; plants have recovered from 0 °F, zone 7.
