This is an excellent new cultivar of the native Oakleaf Hydrangea. The foliage emerges bright gold in early spring and maintains a beautiful chartreuse color throughout the summer, before finishing the year with brilliant red foliage in the fall. Originally discovered in England as a sport of Pee Wee Oakleaf Hydrangea, Little Honey is also a small grower, reaching only 3-4' in maturity.

A distinctive new form of Oakleaf Hydrangea, with glowing golden foliage all season. Slow growing and in need of a little coddling as a youngster, it grows 3-4' tall, bearing creamy white cones of flowers mid-summer through fall. In autumn, the blossoms takes on rose and russet tones, withich are accented by lovely burgundy tinted leaf color. Avoid leaf scorch, but maintain strong leaf color, by siting in eastern exposure. A true golden-foliaged shrub of summer. Very compact for an Oakleaf Hydrangea, reaching only 3 or 4' after many years. It bears fat cones of mauve inflorescences late in the season that mature to pinks and rose. And then there's fall--gorgeous burgundies mingle with still golden foliage! What a honey!

This small growing oakleaf hydrangea will only get 2-3' tall. The great reason to grow H. q. 'Little Honey' is its handsome golden yellow leaves. It doesn't seem to make any difference as to shade or sun to keep the color of the golden leaves. The flowers are the typical white during summer. Try this new selection for the dash of golden foliage.
