This 1991 Werner Frosch hybrid is the result of a romantic interlude between Cypripedium parviflorum v. parviflorum and Cypripedium macranthos var. speciosum. The result is a vigorous hybrid which, in mid-spring, produces 14" tall stalks of flowers with white pockets, occasionally stained with burgundy near the top, then complemented by twisted sepals of dark burgundy. Our offerings are all flowering-sized plants.

Maria' is similar in colouration to 'Gisela' but is daintier in habit and flower structure. 'Maria' also has broader leaves and opens about one week later than 'Gisela'. Grown from seed. Plants will resemble the image but may not be identical. Lady's slipper hybrids are much more vigorous and easy to grow than species. Blooming size.
