Grassy evergreen sedge forms dense round clumps 6-12” tall arching out to 24” wide of narrow silver blue foliage…slowly spreads in moist to wet soils in some shade. Deer resistant, grows in even deep shade; native to moist woodlands in the eastern US. Flowers are insignificant. Nice at the edge of water features, natural or otherwise! Cut to ground in winter for a fresh crop of foliage. USDA Z5

Carex laxiculmis is another superb native that can be found in moist woods from Canada south to Florida. Carex 'Hobb' is a particularly nice blue-foliaged selection introduced by the Head Brothers of Seneca, South Carolina. Expect Carex 'Hobb' to make a slowly spreading 18" wide deer-resistant clump of 1' long x 0.5" wide evergreen foliage...very nice when used either as a specimen or in a mass planting.
