This simple garden was a chance discovery after grabbing lunch one day.

It features an extremely refined plant selection of golden grasses along with trees and shrubs that have peeling bark, and of there are course multiples of each. Along the public sidewalk there’s a row of Arctostaphylos, probably A. densiflora ‘Harmony’ – they are under-planted with Stipa tenuissima.

The grass sways and the bark curls…

The sculptural form of those branches, makes me week in the knees.

The hell-strip (aka parking-strip) features an Acer griseum, one of the curliest specimens ever seen.

The driveway is lined with a row of Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’.

So simple, so perfect. The trouble is as a maniacal plant collector I’m not disciplined enough stick to a small plant palette like this. Oh that I could, it creates such a peaceful, calming garden.
